Many of our non-Catholic friends wonder why we Catholics pay so much attention to her. They find that loyalty is puzzling, and many times they wonder if we are guilty of some idolatry of sorts. There are scant references for Mary the Mother God in the New Testament, but she is found in the Old Testament very many times. Dr. Brant Pitre has authored a book that shows in scriptural detail why the Catholic faithful venerates Mary. The title of the book is Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary.
According to Dr. Pitre’s biblical research based on Christian typology, Mary has many characters: she is the new Eve, the new Ark of the Covenant, the Mother of God. According to Dr. Pitre, ...

A true story…This happened to me yesterday 3.20.2020.
Bill M. called me around 11:47 yesterday to ask if I was going to Planned Parenthood with him? Bill goes everyday Monday through Friday from 2 to 3 PM. I have been going with Bill on Fridays for the past 3 weeks of Lent to stand at the entrances and pass out pro-life materials and pray the rosary. It is part of my Lenten journey this season. I asked if he was okay with me riding with him to Providence considering the Coronavirus distancing recommendation. He said he didn’t mind, if I didn’t. I told him I was not sick; he also said that he was not sick at all. I agreed to .........

Notes: Monday January 13, 2020
At yesterday’s 10 AM Sunday Mass, Monsignor Halloran asked, “if there were a ‘wanted follower of Jesus Christ’ bulletin posted would you be arrested?”
I meditated on that yesterday and then again, this morning. The answer I came up with was yes. I would be arrested as a follower of Jesus Christ.
What evidence is there for the authorities to arrest me?
Well, for one it would be that when I can I attend daily Mass and Communion and that act alone would be enough to get me arrested. But then there is much more evidence.
I publicly attest to my relationship with Jesus Christ by the content I post on my Facebook pages and on my Blog Page. &.........

The Anchor: A Christian Symbol
The beautiful anchor on top of St. Andrews Catholic Church located on Block Island has a long history of Christian symbolism. It is a fitting symbol for a church that sits on a hill on an island several miles out to sea. Block Island has been and still is a safe haven for boats who find it necessary to anchor in its harbors to wait out storms or to simply lay still in tranquil waters.
Christian symbolic reference to an anchor is found in Paul’s letter to Hebrews 6:16-20:
…(16) For men swear by one greater than themselves: and an oath for confirmation is the end of all their controversy…(17)Wherein God, interposed............

Story behind the song: ‘Mary did you know?’
Mark Lowry, a Christian singer, songwriter and comedian, was born in Houston, Texas, June 24, 1958, to Charles Lowry, an attorney, and Bev Lowry, a singer, songwriter and pianist. He learned to love music and could sing beautifully as a young child. He graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., in 1980.
Following is Mark’s story behind his now famous song:
“In 1984, Jerry Falwell called and asked me to write the program for their next Living Christmas Tree.
As I wrote the ‘speaking parts’ I began to think about Mary. I have always been fascinated with the concept that God came to earth.
In a conversation with my mother, I ...

We thank Thee
By: Ralph Waldo Emerson
For flowers that bloom about our feet,
Father, we thank Thee.
For tender grass so fresh, so sweet,
Father, we thank Thee.
For the song of bird and hum of bee,
For all things fair we hear and see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.
For blue of stream and blue of sky,
Father, we thank Thee.
For pleasant shade of branches high,
Father, we thank Thee
For fragrant air and cooling breeze,
For beauty of the blossoming trees.
Father in heaven, we thank Thee.
For this new morning with its light,
Father, we thank Thee.
For rest and shelter of the ............
